This is how the magic happens… Transforming your tired or messy garden into something you’ve always dreamed of!
No two jobs are the same and the type of base is dependant on individual ground conditions and they vary from location to location.
As a general rule of thumb a layer of Type 1 stone followed by a blinding layer eg sharp sand, grano dust is required & the depth will vary job to job but take advice from the experts!
All EaziLawn surfaces can be stuck to hard bases. If sticking to paving slabs best to install underlay to minimise the pattern of the slabs showing through. If installing on decking again use underlay or install marine plywood.

The EaziLawn surface comes in widths of 2m or 4m so carefully dissect your garden area into sections to allow for this. Mark out the area with white spray paint if this helps. Calculate how much aggregate you need for the base.
Remove existing grass using a turf spade, turf cutter or a mini digger which can usually be hired locally. Up to 100mm of grass/spoil may be removed. Use a wacker plate to compact the sub soil.
Use 50 x 50mm tanalised timber secured in place with timber stakes, this will act as a secure framework onto which the EaziLawn surface can be secured ie nailed or stapled.
This is optional but protects against any weeds popping up & stops the aggregate sinking into the sub base. Available from any local builder merchants.
This is by far the most important part of the whole job and is the secret to a successful or otherwise job! Every job is bespoke and a wide variety of materials can be used depending on what is available at the local builders’ merchants – Type 1 stone, whin dust, sharp sand etc. If the drainage is an issue install a minimum of 50mm Type 1 stone followed by a layer of sharp sand if not a problem then a minimum of 50mm sharp sand should suffice. It is not an exact science but if you have any doubt at all phone the EaziLawn team and ask!!
Once installed again compact using a wacker plate this will avoid any base movement in the future once the EaziLawn surface has been installed. A perfect base will give you a perfect top surface.
The surface comes in 2/4m widths, roll out the EaziLawn surface making sure the pile is in the same direction.
Lay the seaming tape beneath the flaps of the EaziLawn surface, apply the adhesive to the seaming tape then fold the surface back onto the tape. Weigh down and allow the adhesive to set. 1 adhesive cartridge should be enough for 3m.
Some of the EaziLawn surfaces need a sand infill to weigh down the surface and support the pile and keep it upright. Sand is available again from a local builders’ merchants and can be applied manually or using a sand spreader.
Put your feet up, open that bottle of wine & have that long awaited cigar ENJOY the fact that you now own a low maintenance EaziLawn garden that will look fantastic for many years to come!
